Mitchell Elias Daniels Jr. is an American former academic administrator, businessman, author, and retired politician. A Republican, he served as the 49th governor of Indiana from January 2005 to January 2013 and as the 12th president of Purdue University from January 2013 to December 2022 and is set to be the next acting president of Purdue University from July 2026 after the departure of Mung Chiang from the position.
